Each type of breast implant has unique characteristics. We have found that patients are most satisfied with an inframammary approach, which allows for submuscular placement of the implants through an incision along the crease of the breast. The procedure allows for a more natural look and feel.
What to know about pre-operative breast augmentation procedures
Patients who choose breast augmentation will undergo a minimal pre-operative medical evaluation based mostly on age and medical history. During the consultation, the surgeon will discuss the risk and benefits of breast-implant surgery and answer any questions prospective patients might have. At this time, patients will decide on the type of implant and the approximate enhanced breast size they want to achieve.
Post-operative recovery after breast augmentation
Breast-implant patients typically experience a relatively easy post-augmentation recovery compared with other surgical procedures. Immediately after surgery, breasts are considerably swollen and tender. Rest and, if needed, prescription pain medications are used to relieve discomfort. Patients will return to the office several times for check-ups and suture removal.
After a week or 10 days, patients should start a series of exercises to maximize the results of the breast augmentation. After 6 to 8 weeks, post-operative photos will be taken. Patients will receive follow-up care on an as-needed basis.
The cost of breast augmentation
The price varies based on the type of breast implant a patient chooses. During the consultation a price will be quoted that includes the surgeon’s fee, as well as the anesthesia fee.
