Cosmetic surgery today consists of much more than just traditional surgical procedures.  With the advent of Botox cosmetic as well as other injectable products, the patients of today can greatly tailor their own treatments and procedures to give themselves a tremendous amount of flexibility.  Temporary fillers, semi-permanent fillers, and botox have become mainstays of cosmetic surgical practices.  The advantages of injectable procedures are numerous including effective fast results, minimal downtime, and lower costs than some surgical procedures to name a few.  The following is a brief synopsis of some of the many procedures which we offer.  If there is something you are interested that you do not see listed below, please inquire with our office.

Botox

Botox is a purified protein that is synthesized by the Allergan company.  The product is used cosmetically to stop muscles most often of the upper face from causing wrinkling in the skin.  Botox is injected strategically into certain areas of the patients face. After several days to a week, there is a significant decrease in the muscular motion of the face in turn decreasing the severity of wrinkles.  Botox is safe and effective as either an adjunct to a surgical procedure or on its own.  Botox currently has no direct competitor in the U.S. but two products, Reloxin and Puretox, are expected to be released within the next year.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are products that are injected into the skin to plump or fill a depression or wrinkle.  There are numerous types of available materials to accomplish this task.  We here are trained and have used many of the available products in the U.S. market for many years.
Either as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with other surgical procedures, fillers are quickly becoming one of the most common non-surgical treatments available to the cosmetic patient.  Below is a list of the products that we currently inject:

Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is defined as injecting a sclerosing agent into a vessel or lesion for the purpose of reduction or eradication.  A sclerosing agent is any type of product that irritates or ablates the vessel wall of a vein.
We reserve this service for the treatment of cosmetic spider veins and other similar lesions.  If the veins you would like treated are large and/or painful, you will probably be best served by seeking the services of a vascular surgeon.  We do, however, consistently see and treat spider veins in all types of patients.

Mesotherapy

Whether for collagen stimulation or fat reduction there is currently no approved FDA chemical agent for mesotherapy.  We do not offer this service but strongly suggest that if you are considering mesotherapy, you consult with a board certified plastic surgeon about some of the other available options or consider a surgical option such as liposuction.
